Ron and Carol have lived on St. Thomas since 1982 and have been in the day sail business since 2001. They just completed a one year trans-Caribbean cruise to Panama via Bonaire, Curacao, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic.
Captain Ron Arens
Ron, a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain, began sailing as a child in San Francisco and later in the Pacific Northwest. Ron sailed from Olympia, Washington, to St. Thomas via the Panama Canal on a classic Newporter ketch. After arriving in St. Thomas, Ron has completed numerous deliveries to and from the East coast, a trans-Atlantic trip to France, and many trips down the island chain to Trinidad, Venezuela, etc. Also, in St. Thomas, Ron owned and operated a bareboat charter company, a waterfront bar and restaurant, and managed a marina.
First Mate Carol King
After learning to sail in Southern California in the l970's, Carol enjoyed extensive cruising in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. She sailed to St. Thomas in l982 and gave herself 3 months to decide whether or not to stay. She did and has enjoyed living and working in St. Thomas plus more sailing in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, down island to Venezuela and Trinidad, plus deliveries to Bermuda and Florida. Carol owned East End Secretarial and Red Hook Mail Services for 16 years.
