ABOUT THE BOAT

Alaunt , a Van de Stadt designed Gallant 53, was built in 1968 at Southern Ocean Shipyards in England.  She was originally built for the Governor of Bermuda for off shore racing.  Only 23 Gallant 53's were built.  The most famous is "Express Crusader" in which Naomi James was the first woman to sail around the world single-handed.  

Actually, Alaunt has quite a checkered history, including being seized by the U.S. Coast Guard.  We'll tell you more when you're on board.
